The latest trends hit the runway in New York, Los Angeles and Paris this September and October. Designers decorated their models from head to toe in the latest fashion fads, with emphasis on coquette, loungewear and the color red.

In Ellensburg, the trends hit the streets across campus. Baggy jeans, cargo pants, hoodies and UGGs have emerged from closets as fall has turned the corner.

Walking around campus is like scrolling through a Pinterest board for outfit inspiration — every student has their own style, helping to fuel others’ imagination wherever they go.

Kimarah Crockett

Kimarah Crockett, a junior majoring in computer science and programming at CWU, says her favorite fall trends are cropped sweaters and sweatshirts.

“I’ve seen a couple of people with them on,” Crockett says. “And they have little UGG boots to match them.”

Across campus there is one trend she has seen the most: “Baggy ripped jeans is number one,” Crockett says. The time of skinny jeans has passed and mom jeans moved in, but only to be replaced with oversized, baggy jeans.

Kylianna Misiak

Kylianna Misiak, a junior majoring in computer science at CWU, recalls the trends she has seen this fall: “Definitely knit sweaters. I see a lot in fall, or every fall honestly,” says Misiak.

Knit sweaters are an essential for fall in Washington, right behind UGG boots, of course. “My favorite fall trend would probably be UGG’s, just because they’re really comfortable, especially for walking on campus,” Misiak says.

Isias Escamilla

Isias Escamilla, a junior majoring in apparels, textiles and merchandising at CWU, looks forward to the colors that fall brings: “Cream, beige, all those lighter tones,” Escamilla says.

Fall in Washington is the perfect time for basics and neutrals, as it is the time of year where comfort is ingrained in the trends we purchase. “What I’ve noticed is hoodies in any fashion, anyway, hoodies are in,” Escamilla says.

Bryce Robinson

Bryce Robinson, a junior majoring in information technology at CWU, says that this fall he's seen button ups make a bit of a comeback.

Fall in Washington is different from other places, as we experience moderations of this weather year round. “We’re already used to the rain,” Robinson says. “We’re already used to the cold.”

When it comes to fall, the Pacific Northwest has the basics down. “I think we do it pretty good,” Robinson says. “The hoodies we’ve always done very well and we continue to outshine everyone else's.”

Ella Kangas

Ella Kangas transferred to CWU for their junior year. Kangas joins in on the love for sweaters in fall; “I love really big sweaters,” Kangas says.”I love them so much.”

A staple for many closets this fall, sweaters have made their inevitable return. “I don't own a lot of them, but I wish I did,” Kangas says. “I have one favorite one and I need to wear it more.”

Walking campus you see many different aesthetics, but as the seasons pass through, you can see some crowd favorites. Kangas recalls monochrome to be popular on campus this fall. “I see puffy vests a lot too,” Kangas claims.

Demani Thomas

Demani Thomas is a sophomore majoring in cyber security at CWU.

Thomas says this fall, bomber jackets have been a favorite trend for him. “Bomber jackets, I like that,” Demani says.

Walking around campus though, Thomas claims that loose sweaters have stolen the show.
